The Brief
Activating a brand presence among the 600-plus exhibitors at ChinaJoy – the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference – is no small challenge. But that was precisely the aim of JD Game+ when they engaged Pico to provide full event management and execution services for their massive booth in the event.
Creative execution
The completed booth featured a dynamic, eye-catching exterior which expressed the excitement of the client’s products. Once they arrived, visitors could circulate through six distinct zones which each offered a different mix of activities, entertainment and products. The main stage hosted cosplayer competitions and interactive games, a sharing session of an ‘e-sports college’, fan meetings with e-sports stars, and a high-profile competition between famous e-sports teams. In the other corner of the booth, a Virtual Reality (VR) game experience zone offered visitors a chance to immerse themselves in a rhythm game or a challenging zombie hunt.
Other areas featured a life-size ‘grab the doll’ machine in which visitors could ‘grab’ as many snacks as possible, and a showcase where digital entertainment products from over 20 brands could be tested.
With the aim of reaching a wider audience, the team set up an on-site livestreaming station for invited star hosts to broadcast the event programmes on ‘Douyu’, a popular livestreaming platform in China.
