Pico Global Care in Action (PGCiA) once again made a positive impact on communities when staff members from Hong Kong participated in ‘Hawker for a Day’ – a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of the differently abled at Dignity Kitchen, a restaurant operated by Project Dignity in Mongkok, Hong Kong.
Project Dignity is a social enterprise that provides vocational training to people with disabilities and intellectual and social challenges.
Working side-by-side with the restaurant’s employees, the volunteers gained a real understanding of the challenges faced by differently abled in everyday life. Together, they prepared food while communicating in sign language, and ultimately helped to pack and distribute 300 meal boxes to local aged and homeless on behalf of PGCiA.
The activity reflected Pico’s commitment to inclusion and a society that gives everyone the opportunity to contribute meaningfully.
