(Hong Kong, 23 June 2014) Pico announced that it has won the contract for the Malaysia Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, which will be held in Milan, Italy from 1 May to 31 October 2015.
Under this contract, Pico has been appointed by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia to provide a comprehensive range of expo services for the pavilion. These include design, content development, audio-visual solutions, fabrication, landscaping and hardscapes. Other services will include operations management, concept development for and management of events, sponsorship, promotional and publicity programmes, and catering arrangements which will keep the pavilion up and running during this six-month period.

In addition, we will also handle the construction of the pavilion’s buildings, which will utilise local materials, being spread across 2,047 sq. m. in the shape of four seeds.

The pavilion’s theme – “Towards a Sustainable Food Ecosystem” – will emphasise the concepts of sustainability and inclusiveness. At least two million visitors to the pavilion are expected to explore the dynamics between Malaysia’s economic advancement and environmental preservation; and between biodiversity and commercial agriculture.

Expo Milano 2015 will be Pico’s ninth World Expo over the past 30 years. Looking forward, the Group is well-positioned for significant involvement in Expo Milano 2015. The Malaysia Pavilion will become part of Pico’s continuously expanding World Expo portfolio, which has surpassed a total of 70 pavilions.

The ambitions of Expo 2015 are to explore the themes of food, energy, planet and life on a “journey to the roots of the boundaries of the future”. The Malaysia Pavilion will create a journey of discovery for visitors and illustrate how the nation is pursuing its socio-economic development goals in an innovative, sustainable and environmentally conscious manner.
