Pico Singapore’s activation of the UNFCCC COP27 Singapore Pavilion has earned a Singapore Good Design Award (SG Mark) 2023 in the Sustainable Design category. Pico was tasked with design and conceptualisation, development, planning, construction, operation, and stakeholder event management for the country’s pavilion. The team also designed and developed a virtual pavilion to allow a global audience to engage with the entirety of the actual pavilion.
Every aspect of the Pavilion was thoughtfully designed: from the upcycled felt facade and modular paper furniture to display shelves made from recycled chopsticks, it promotes low-carbon footprint and the ability to be repurposed. The virtual pavilion features interactive screens and digital content to enrich the visitor experience whilst further promoting sustainability. It attracted more than 5,000 visitors to the physical pavilion in Egypt and more than 100,000 views on the virtual pavilion platform.
Launched in 2013 by the Design Business Chamber Singapore in partnership with the Japan Institute of Design Promotion, the Singapore Good Design Award (SG Mark) affirms companies and individuals who have generated significant value by focusing on human needs and experiences and providing solutions in their products and services to enhance industrial development and enrich lives responsibly.
